BAL Compliant Doors

We have a large range of beautiful door panels that are BAL compliant, with some options up to BAL40!

When ordering or requesting a quote for a Parkwood door or frame, please tell us what BAL Rating is required so we can ensure that the door or frame complies.

BAL40 Aluminium front doors

Our range of architecturally designed front doors are powder-coated to the colour of your choice for low maintenance and are capable of enduring all weather.
The aluminium structure provides stability and strength, offering the best security to keep your family safe, while the sleek, classic design is sure to wow your visitors. Doors must not have foam filling.

BAL29 Aluminium front doors

Glazed doors must use minimum 6mm thick toughened exterior pane.

Glazing minimum requirements:
  • BAL 12.5 – Toughened glass, minimum 4mm thick (6.38mm laminate is OK).
  • BAL 19 – Toughened glass, minimum 5mm thick.
  • BAL 29 – Toughened glass, minimum 6mm thick.
  • BAL 40 – No glazed doors.

In the case of double-glazed glass, only the outer pane is required to meet these requirements.

BAL12.5 Duramax doors

These doors have been tested to BAL 12.5.

  • For the rating to be achieved, the door needs to be hung in a timber frame.
  • With or without V grooves.
  • Spindle height 1020 from bottom of door + or – 80mm.
  • RP8s are not compliant seals.
  • Rebated pairs are not allowed.

There may be some limitations in door sizes due to the minimum size that glass can be toughened, please check the size with us first. Please remember when ordering or requesting a quote for a Parkwood door or frame, please tell us what BAL Rating is required so we can ensure that the door or frame complies.

The above door styles show compliance for the door leaf only. Doors must be hung in a suitable frame, with suitable seals or hardware. Parkwood take no responsibility for installation that does not meet relevant requirements.

BAL40 Frames

Frame complies at BAL 40 when bushfire resistant seals are used.

Door and Frame Combinations
Where Parkwood supply the door in a frame, both the door and frame must be compliant at the required BAL level.
Where the customer supplies the frame, or hangs the door in an existing frame, it is their responsibility to ensure that the frame, clearances and seals meet relevant BAL requirements and regulations as set out in AS 3959:2018.

BAL19 Aluminium Frames

BAL 19 requires toughened glass, minimum 5mm thick.
