BAL Compliant Doors

We have a large range of beautiful door panels that are deemed to satisfy the requirements of AS 3959:2018 BAL12.5, with some options up to BAL40!

When ordering or requesting a quote for a Parkwood BAL Rated door, please tell us what BAL Rating is required so we can ensure that the door complies.

BAL40 Aluminium front doors

BAL29 Aluminium front doors

Glazing minimum requirements:
  • BAL 12.5 – Toughened glass, minimum 5mm thick (6.38mm laminate is OK)
  • BAL 19 – Toughened glass, minimum 5mm thick
  • BAL 29 – Toughened glass, minimum 6mm thick
  • BAL 40 – No glazed timber doors

In the case of double-glazed glass, only the outer pane is required to meet these requirements.

BAL29 Timber front doors

Parkwood premium solid timber doors are hand-crafted by our team of skilled tradespeople and designed to suit your unique home and style. For BAL29 we can use any of our available timbers unless it is a glazed door then only Kwila (Merbau) can be used.

BAL12.5 Timber front doors

For BAL12.5 we can use any of our available timbers, unless it is a glazed door then only American White Ash can be used.

BAL12.5 Duramax doors

These doors have been tested and approved for BAL 12.5 certification.

  • Open-in only.
  • Woodgrain skins only.
  • With or without V grooves.
  • Glazing is not permitted.
  • Painting is allowed, but the coating thickness must not exceed 0.5mm.
  • Spindle height 1020 from bottom of door + or – 80mm.
  • Must have a stainless steel lock Windsor 1148 or similar, back set no more than 60mm. Grip sets are allowed.
  • Installer must ensure frame clearances or seals comply with AS 3959:2018. BAL 12.5 rated seals under doors are allowed otherwise the gap must not exceed 3.0mm.

There may be some limitations in door sizes due to the minimum size that glass can be toughened, please check the size with us first. Please remember when ordering or requesting a quote for a Parkwood BAL Rated door, please tell us what BAL Rating is required so we can ensure that the door leaf complies.

Please take note that this is only for the door LEAF. Doors must be hung in a suitable frame with seals and hardware that will comply with the required BAL. No responsibility will be held by Parkwood if the door frame, hardware, or fitting is not compliant to the standard.
